Well, it’s surprising as soon as permanent root was available for the Evo 3D, a slew of ROMs just decided to pop up including MikG 3D ROM.
This MikG 3D ROM features a bit of goodies plus the ability to USB tether and hacked Sprint hotspot. The Sprint hotspot doesn’t support 4G at this point but you can always install the free Android Wifi Tether app to get 4G tethering (I’ve confirmed this works and will have a video on it too.).

Once you’ve rooted your Evo 3D, you will want to backup your rooted ROM then install new ROMs to try out.
Why install new ROMs?
Well, it’s been only couple days since the permanent root method has been available to the public but there’s already over 10 custom ROMs you can get for the Evo 3D.

For those of you new to the HTC Evo 3D, once you’ve rooted your Evo 3D, you will want to backup your newly rooted ROM if you are thinking about doing things like adding a new overclocked kernel or install new ROMs.
Why?
You want to create a restore point, sorta like Windows 7 system restoration feature, so you always can go back to a ROM that’s working stable. Also, this is a great way to have 4 or 5 ROMs on your phone and switch ROMs on the go.

It looks like we have full S-OFF permanent root, you can follow the video and instructions below. My Evo 3D has been rooted FINALLY! And you should do it before it gets blocked with OTA update.

I know a lot of you do love MikG ROM and every ROM update, it gets better and better. The newest MikG ROM comes with USB tethering on top of hacked Sprint Hotspot.
The only downside is probably that HDMI mirroring and overclocking is missing, not only MikG but all Sense-based ROMs. This should get solved fairly soon and also root method should be on its way for those with S-ON stock Gingerbread.

There’s one ROM I forgot to review and it’s Synergy ROM for the Evo 4G. One of its coolest features is the panorama and HDR camera feature, allowing you to take panorama photos or HDR pics although I haven’t still figured out how to use the HDR.
The Synergy ROM also comes with a Netflix 1080P and wireless N module, both which I still also haven’t figured out how to use.
Overall, this is a really nice ROM you should try out, especially if you are photo-sensitive and want panorama camera.

You know when you are driving, the 4G connections can get a bit iffy on the HTC Evo 3D or 4G. Well, this is because Sprint sets default reconnect time for 4G WiMax at 5 minutes, meaning it won’t even “try” to connect to 4G again until 5 minutes is up.
But we can hack the phone’s WiMax settings to get it re-connected to 4G as soon as it can. This will however drain the battery more but if you absolutely want the fastest 4G (and you can always simply turn off 4G when not needed), you can do this hack.

For those of you who want to go a bit faster, download/upload stuff 20-30% faster, you can easily do it by messing with the proxy settings on your HTC Evo 4G or 3D.
To do this, you will need a rooted Evo 4G or perma-temp rooted 3D.
First, install MSL Reader app from the Market (yes, it’s free) and find the MSL of your HTC Evo 4G or 3D.
