Here’s cheat sheet/FAQ for HTC Evo 3D, you will need to root your Evo 3D before trying to install any new ROMs.
- How to Root HTC Evo 3D Revolutionary Method! – This is for those of you on older HBOOT 1.3 and 1.4. (Here’s how to unroot if you used revolutionary method to unroot.)
- How to Root HTC Evo 3D HBOOT 1.50 – This is for those of you on HBOOT 1.50 or later. Also if you use this method to root, you will need to install new ROMs from fastboot!!! OR use Flash Image GUI app.
- How to Backup/Restore ROMs on Evo 3D! – MAKE SURE you make at least one backup of your rooted ROM before installing new ROMs!!!

I always review your website and have picked up on great pointers from you so thanx very much for that and want to say keep up the great work. I am going to be upgrading my Evo 4G to an EVO 3D exactly on November 1st when my upgarde kicks in. I know you probably flashed every 2.3.3/2.3.4 Custom rom for it and was wondering if you can tell me what would be the best 2.3.4 rom to flash that would be closest to the performance of chad goodmans tweaked synergy 2.3.3 rom earning 4000-4500 on quadrant. If there is a 2.3.4 rom out there using Ziggy’s kernel or any other kernel that would perform as beastly as that rom, can you tell me which? I see there are a few final stable everything working 2.3.4 roms out there with tons of tweaks like ext4/OC, etc… Thanx! ;D

This is what I am getting when I get to loading the Unlock bin. I have everything needed to be installed. This is not my phone, its a friends and it had been updated so IDK if the new OTA had blocked this method right now. Im at a loss for whats going on. Im in Fastboot USB and get to push this but thats it, no unlock screen like in the video. Checking the file its 256 bytes so IDK why its showing (0 kb) pushed.
HBoot is still 1.50.000 and LOCKED. Any suggestions??

on the top it says locked i can not use htd dev hack to unlock because my version is not listed
After rooting my phone and installing the Infected Eternity ROM, everything was working great…I then added ROM Manager Premium app to attempt to be able to swap roms directly from there, and it flashed recoverery, now I can’t load into recovery at all, or get it to reinstall in flashboot…any thoughts? I can still see the files for recovery in the SD Card through Astro…

I am a true htc evo user…. I have rooted and unrooted plenty of phones but now with this free upgrade from a replacement lost phone i came on here to figure how to root my 3D EVO. I read the terms with the HTC 3D site and I dont feel confident with letting them know that Im unlocking. Is there another way?
I’m pretty good with computers and I get up to the command prompt and it gives me the message that it was unfound. I saved it in c directory? After looking at this it seems like there’s alot of problems should I even still do it? My hboot is 150000000 and I was following that method. evo 3d
i need help, a while back i rooted my htc evo 3d using the “new” method, and everything was working great until i tried to flash the rcmix kernel. the clockworkmod had an error trying to flash to it, since then my wifi and 4g dot work. i tryed switching to the viper rom, but the wifi and 4g error stayed. i tried flashing all the wifi fix kernels with no success. now im trying to flash to synergy. the sprint ruu doesn’t recognize my phone, so im stuck with broken wifi and 4g. help me find a solution. thanks.

I recently followed your directions to (1) root my EVO 3D and (2) install the Synergy ROM. While I was successful in doing both, for some reason that I cant figure out, my phone is unable to turn-on wifi access. I just want to go back to the beginning – as if my phone just came out of the box. I tried to see if I could do it from your video on unrooting, but it just didn’t work.

HTC has some security tighten up on new phones (like mine). i had same problem as yours before. the ONLY solution: download new RUU (RUU_Shooter_S_Sprint_WWE_2.08.651.2_Radio_0.97.10.0808_NV_SPCS_1.31_003_release_208230_signed.exe).make sure to download exactly the same what i typed ok! install it using htc sync. then do the htcdev method………violaa UNLOCK… dont forget to thank me lol (thanks xda)

Rom manager fu*ks up evo 3d, dont use the app. use cwm-4.-1*** manually that matt instructed. it works!

after good root to good rom and flashing to another good rom all wifi function lost s-on is back still unlock any help

Completed root. But I formatted SD in attempt to flash incorrect ROM. Got ANDROID REVOLUTION HSU ROM flashed but my WiFi has an error. Any suggestions? Reflash radios?

I’m not a big fan of the revo method It require alot of info sharing looks alot like carrierIQ to me

Hey Max i just wanted to share with you that kernels made by Chad Goodwin are the best ever! His infected kernels are modified for tweaked synergy but the work great on other sense roms too! im able to overclock to 1782 mhz stable! this is basically 1.8 mhz if u round it up! my phone cant handle 1836 mhz! this is ah great way to get 1.8 stable! Try it out or maybe make ah video!

I tried to permatemp my Evo3D so I could create a wifi hotspot. I do not have internet at my house, because I’m too far from the “main” road. When I followed the steps, downloaded the links, and rand the CMD promp, every line that ran across the screen was “fail” or “failure.” I tried it twice, restarted the phone, and tried it again. Nothing happened and the phone was not “rooted.”
I’ve since restarted the phone, giving up on the idea of rooting my phone, and am now having problems I didn’t have before–I’m trying to figure out what I did wrong or what step I missed. A social networking application I use does not work anymore (well, the feed part doesn’t work–the rest does). And there were odd programs/apps installed that I had to uninstall: Terminal Emulator and SuperUser.
I have an Evo 3D, 2.3.4 Gingerbread. All the most recent updates have been installed.
I’m phone illiterate, so any help would be grateful.

Did you use the HTC unlock method? I am guessing you did if you have superuser on there. Go to this site,download the newest beta (11) http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list
after you install it, you have to tweak the settings.
1) Change Devive-Profile to HTC Evo 3D
2)Check mark the boxes for MSS clamping and also Routing fix
3)Enjoy it!!!
It also lets you use 4g for the tethering if you have 4g at your place
i rebooted my phone with out turning fastboot off …now its on the htc greatings screen and wont change can some1 help
