  1. matt says:

Still waiting for a good overclocking kernal for ics on cdma.any possibilities available?

  2. Bahaa says:

    I have s-on rooted device with kingcobra-ics v1.6 .
can I flash the rom from recovery with s-on or should make the device s-off first then install the cool ics rom?

  3. scott says:

I installed this and I was stuck on the HTC screen for more then 5 min so I am trying dr3p and its fine any ideas please

  4. cameron says:

I have rooted/s-off evo 3d and cannot get hotspot/wifi tethering to work. Hotspot gives me Data call error. Any ideas?

    • Ernesto says:

Go into wifi tether app settings and make sure your Device-Profile is set to “Generic ICS”. Then make sure you have Routing Fix and Mss Clamping checked on.

    • jerry says:

use “WiFi Tether” and just call sprint saying you cant make calls and they fix it for you, just make sure you don’t tell about rooting your phone and you’ll be fine, they take care of it, just give them the error message and they will get your phone up and running and your WiFi Tether will work. let me know if this fix it, i had the same issue and is solved just thought i would pass it on

  5. anthony says:

can you change boot animations with this rom…..if not whats a good 3d rom to use that you can change boot animations.

  6. Ricky says:

I just installed without wiping and my wifi doesn’t work at all. Not the tethering, but my home network. Can’t live without that. Any thoughts? Would it help to wipe all data from recovery?

    I used 4ext and have s-on.

    • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

      try flashing boot.img with fastboot.

      • Ricky says:

I can’t mount my phone to my computer. Or at least it doesn’t show that I can get in there. And would I use the boot.img that’s in the ZIP file? (Im new). I also flashed the CoolZ EvoC after flashing the Rom. Not even sure what it does or did. Can you not flash the IMG file through the 4ext thing? Does it have to be from the CMD way?

  7. Ricky says:

Seems I can use the CMD thing, but using a tut on youtube, using my COOL boot.img (4meg) or even his 16 meg file the comand prompt gives me a “Failed (status read fail (to many links).
I have fastboot checked and USB Debugging checked.
Still like to know why I can’t get to mount the drive as well..

    • Ricky says:

I tried the Flash GUI apk and choose the ROM file to install the kernal, but it shuts down everytime while indexing the Zip file. UUUHHHHGGG !!

  8. Ricky says:

Damn thing reboots or just shuts down fairly frequently today.
Would it be a good idea to just unroot if possible and get stock everything back? Might not bring my WiFi back though.

    • Ricky says:

Now im in a total constant boot loop, and flashing either of the two roms I have don’t work, they both come up and then reboot.

      Any Help?

      • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

        Do you have S-off?

        • Ricky says:

No, S-On. I don’t understand why nothing works any longer. None of the Rom new or old will work, just constand boot loops. I’ve cleared everything I know of and installed fresh. Looking into locking the bootloader, and running the RUU file and hopefully ending the misery. That is if I can do that correctly. 🙁

          • wildrizzo88 says:

Are you just getting the htc screen and then reboot a few seconds later?

            • Ricky says:

Yes. Sometimes it may get to the unlock, but then reboots, but normally the white htc screen. I tired relocking the bootloader and just flashing the stock RUU. But still nothing. Says I’m on 1.58 now. And seem to be doin the correct RUU.

              • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

I recommend getting S-OFF most ICS ROMs work well after that, I had that same trouble where it would bootloop on every ICS until i got s-off.

                • Mike says:

ok I am S-off, tried Hboot jb 1.58, Rev 1.40, and stock 1.58. All give stuck on HTC “quietly brillant” or bootloop. all partitions formatted several times, smart flash enabled…etc, etc. and no luck booting this CoolICS ROM.

  9. matt says:

is it possible to use the kernal from the gsm to the cdma?

  10. yousif says:

is necessary to upgrade firmware? and how do i know that i’m up to date on firmware?

  11. wildrizzo88 says:

I love the rom but there is no library for the text prediction. Texting is awful. I recall seeing a text file for the library wih a few words in it but I can’t seem to find it anymore. Does anyone know the location and if anyone has a list of at least basic words so that my phone at least knows how to spell “the” it would be very helpful.

  12. x31korps says:

So I was able to get S-off, which took about 10 hours! And then able to get the Cool ICS ROM on. Everything seems like it’s working well except one thing so far. Might sound trivial, but when the phone boots up and I’m looking at the Home panel at the bottom it only says “All apps”. It doesn’t say “Phone” or anything else. Can anyone help with this?

  13. Laurens says:

    Heey Max!

Your doing a great job with all the video’s man! Thanks.
I’m kinda new with rooting. I did install the official ICS update from HTC a few weeks ago.
but i just want to test things out and install custom roms etc.

What do i need to do to install the Cool ICS rom or such? Do i need to downgrade or whatsoever ?

I have unlocked my HTC evo 3D GSM using the HTCdev method and installed clockworkrecovery and installed newest version of superuser.

    Software :
    android-version: 4.0.3 – Sense : 3.6 – Softwarenummer: 3.28.401.1 – hboot: 1.53.0007

I hope you can help me man!

    Laurens
    Peace from the Netherlands

  14. David Mglay says:

    how do i get s-off phone? My phone is Evo 3D Gsm hboot 1.49.0011 s-on // Android v 4.0.3 sense v3.6 softwear number KingCobra3D-ics v1.5..

  15. Mike says:

do i need to get s-off on sprint cdma to install Cool ICS ROM for Sprint CDMA HTC Evo 3D (I have stock ICS updated and phone is not rooted

    • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

You might be okay if you are already on ICS but not exactly sure. Try backing up your rom before installing then you can always restore back if it doesn’t work.

  16. Kenny says:

could not activate Wi-fi Can’t search. Any idea why?

  17. John D says:

I am currently running HBOOT 1.40 s-off CDMA, will I be able to run this COOL ICS rom ? Should I upgrade to HBOOT 1.58, and how will this effect my future flashs, will I run into programs flashing future JB roms ?

    • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

  21. chris says:

  22. chris says:

hello i had unlocked it but now its locked again and its just going straight into the boot menu nothing happening after that just goes into boot menu is there anyway i can fix this?

  23. jeramey says:

Installed this Rom smoothly and it seems to be working great except I have nothing on the bottom bar all I have is *all apps* and nothing to the left or right. I go to change the scene and the scenes shows a full bar with all the icons on it ie. Phone. No matter what I choose I lose everything but all apps*. If I go into *people* I can chose a contact and call it. I get all the phone functions until I exit. I also can’t get any shortcuts to show on the locked screen. I’ve tried wiping and installing. I’m running hboot .1.4 s-off. I installed the Rom with cwm. Anyone have any ideas? Is it a setting that I’m missing. I went through everything I could think of.

  24. Steve says:

    Max,

  31. David H says:

I tried to flash this rom twice now. cleared cache and wiped partition.
The first time I did it from recovery and install from zip file…It installed…said to reboot..I rebooted got the the HTC screen and stopped, wouldn’t load any further (I let it sit for 30 minutes and it didn’t load). I tried flashing with FLASH IMAGE GUI, and I got an error message, (Selected Zip File /sdcard/download/Cool-ICS-V12-EvoG.Zip is missing the required file: System/lib/modules/sequans_sdio.ko)….This rom is Corrupted.

  32. Hey guys just wanna share my tricks on getting roms installed with unlocked bootloader and s-on

SIMPLY DO THIS WHEN YOU DOWNLOAD THE ZIP FILE OF THE ROM

EXTRAC THE ROM ZIP FILE IN A NEW FOLDER THEN DRAG THE BOOT.IMG TO THE ADB FOLDER OR SD FOLDER ETC.

THEN POWER OFF UR EVO 3D PUT IT IN ON BOOTLOADER PLUG IT AND SELECT FASTBOOT

OPEN CMD DO A ADB COMMAND FOR EXAMPLE MINE IS:

    C:\rootevo3d>fastboot flash boot boot.img

ONCE YOIU FLASH THAT BOOT IMG THEN GO TO RECOVERY MOUNT USB STORAGE AND DRAG
THE ZIP ROM FILE TO THE PHONE UNMOUNT USB STORAGE AND UNMOUNT ANY OTHER OPTIONS
IF THEY ARE MOUNTED. THEN SELECT TO FLASH THE ROM ZIP FILE AS YOU NORMALLY DO

AND IT SHOUOLD NOT GIVE YOU HANG LOOPS ON THE HTC SCREEN NONE OF THAT PROVEN TO WORK ….

  33. REMEMBER THIS METHOD IS FOR HTBOOT 1.50 UP IT WORKS LI8KE A CHARGE YOUI NEED TO FIRST FLASH THE BOOT.IMG IN THE ZI8P FILE ITSELFT THEN DRAG THE ZIP ROM FILE AND FLASH IT AND IT WORKS ….

  34. Derek says:

    HBOOT 1.50 with S-ON
