Hello Zedomax,
I just rooted my phone and I was wondering if you knew of a good program or Rom that I can use to get a better internet connection. I have the Sprint 4G Evo and Im in a dominated Verizon and Att location. My friends are verizon and att users and they can surf the web and do facebook with ease and I have to go somewhere to get a better signal. I would like to piggy back if possible on a verizon or att signal for better internet connectivity.
Any help you can give me in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Drew Short
Hi Zedo
I always review your website and have picked up on great pointers from you so thanx very much for that and want to say keep up the great work. I am going to be upgrading my Evo 4G to an EVO 3D exactly on November 1st when my upgarde kicks in. I know you probably flashed every 2.3.3/2.3.4 Custom rom for it and was wondering if you can tell me what would be the best 2.3.4 rom to flash that would be closest to the performance of chad goodmans tweaked synergy 2.3.3 rom earning 4000-4500 on quadrant. If there is a 2.3.4 rom out there using Ziggy’s kernel or any other kernel that would perform as beastly as that rom, can you tell me which? I see there are a few final stable everything working 2.3.4 roms out there with tons of tweaks like ext4/OC, etc… Thanx! ;D

Can I use the hot spot on my xbox 360?

I have an HTC EVO 4G that I tried to root over a year ago using Unrevoked. The process failed but the phone has been, essentially, fully functional. A the time, the explanation was that I had corrupted a certain operating system file, but there was no way to fix it without a fully factory restore from Sprint.
I’m interested in trying to Root again and have tried the latest Revolutionary process. I get the Beta Key to take in the process and then the system says “Zerging Root… this might take a minute or so.. rawadb_open: remote closed the connection looking for target “sync:” Communications with phone unexpectedly interrupted. Try again.”
Is my best chance at rooting this device by taking it back to Sprint for a fresh start?
Thanks
KC
Same thing kept happening to me. I use my Evo 4G as my internet via easytether. Once you get ll the videos/tutorials you need to be able to do your rooting downloaded, CLOSE EASYTETHER, pda net, etc on your computer and I bet it will work. It is interfering with revolutionary.exe working right. Mine worked fine after that.
I’ve looked at your video for rooting the EVO 4G gingerbread version; but I’m still not sure if it applies to my phone. I have the Android version 2.3.3 and Kernel Version 2.6.35.10-g1578ee and Build # 4.54.651.1 CL134969 release-keys. Does it matter what kernel and build # you have? Should the root work for my phone just based on the android ver 2.3.3?
I’m curious as well
I have 2.3.3 and same kernel and build (though my release key is slightly different) and the root worked beautifully for me. When it came time to apply the zip file from the SD card, what I saw on my phone was different from the directions (and required a bit of logical thought to get the proper file selected), but once I figured that bit out it worked like a charm. Was very nice to be able to delete some of the bloatware from my phone…
Mine is doing the same thing, I am getting something different too. What did you have to do.
Hey _E. Did u ever get a answer for yr question about yr Evo 4g
I just (29Dec11) rooted my 2.3.3 and it went great.
)
After rooting my phone what files/folders need to remain on my SD card. My SD card has a lot of folders created by different applications and I am curious as to which ones are needed for the phone to work and which ones I can delete.
i recently started messing with roms i been rooted for a while but i have tried to install that custom boot animation but for sum reason when i try to do it with es file xplorer it wont let me can u tell me what im doing wrong oh by the way im using the rainy day rom thank u n great job on ur site……
Hey Zedromax, thank you for your websight been on here everyday since I found it….just a question regarding the WiFi tether, the WiFi tether that comes with most roms, is it free or should I use an downloaded app for that?
Max, first of all thank you for everything you do for HTC Evo users. I have not rooted my 4G yet because I’m having a tough time picking up on all the lingo. I know you have your cheat sheet on the site, but I was wondering if you could have a “Rooting for beginners and/or dummies” section on your site to get folks like myself up to speed on rooting with step by step instructions? From creating and setting up and saving files and folders on our computers to installing the latest and greatest. I’ve had my 4G since February and love the phone, but really want to get it running to it’s maximum potential and flexibility for me. I’m afraid of screwing my phone up! I’m tired of all of Sprint’s blot ware that I don’t use and it really takes up too much internal memory. Thanks again for all that you do, I subscribed to you here, facebook, and youtube. I downloaded and install cyanogenMod7 rom just now hoping to get mms working on my sprint evo flashed to metro pcs. Everything works except mms. I love the rom. How do I get mms to work. Thanks
Jeffery, I recently found a distribution of CM7 that was built for MetroPCS where EVERYTHING is working great. Here is the link to the XDA Forums that has the information : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1385783

Hi,
I tried to root my phone, but for some reason I couldn’t do it, I followed all the instructions and where I’m having problems is when I want to flash the phone manually.
I selected the folder from the SD card, but it gave me a error and my phone is not root yet.
Please help.
I can not download the files to root the HTC Evo from this site. The only thing that I get is the download viewer and that is it! What the heck is going on? Was the site hacked?

Does anyone know if there is a way to root the evo design yet? Or how you can root an Incredible running 2.3.4… My boyfriend rooted his droid incredible a while ago and loved it, he broke that phone and has since bought a new one. Before we realized what we were doing, he did the OTA update to 2.3.4… Now we are having a problem rooting again. Any help is appreciated.
Do you need a computer to root your phone?
Yes you do.

I successfully rooted my Evo 4G with Gingerbread. While it did take some patience, my phones response was not the same as what was indicated in the “how to”. Any of you with some basic understanding of the stuff should be fine. However I am now finding my phone going off into “sleep” and not coming back on. Typically I would just hit the power key and my screen would turn back on. Now hitting the power key is not doing anything. I have to pull the battery and reboot to “wake” my phone back up. This has never happened prior to rooting it a few days ago. Does anybody have any feedback or suggestions? Any similar problems? Will installing a different ROM do anything for this? And what is the best overall ROM to install? Thanks in advance for any feed back.

I dont understand what i did wrong… Can anyone help???
Good Evening,
I’ve been having some wierd issues with my Rooted HTC EVO 4G. My settings are below:
Model Number: PC36100
Android Version: 2.3.7
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.0808
Kernel Version 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-g0799e00
android@portalie#1
CPU Info: ARMv7 Processor rev 2(v71)
Mem info(avail/total): 101MB/414MB
Mod Version: CyanogenMod-7-11162011-NIGHTLY-Supersonic
Build Number: GWK74
I’ve been running smooth with this set up for approximately 3 months. I currently have Advanced Task Killer automatically killing tasks every hour to help clean out memory for smooth operations but all of a sudden about a week ago, my phone started NOT using the custome ringtones/notifications that I had set for the phone. Also, the gallery feature wouldn’t show my pictures. It would say “LOADING NEW ALBUMS AND PHOTOS”, it would stop the process and the gallery would be empty. It’s almost like my the phones external memory was being unmounted or not being recognized but when I go through main menu settings to check “storage”, the phone would recognize it and it was still “mounted”. The only way for me to fix this temporary SD card not being recognized would be to do a reboot of my phone. That would bring back all my ring tones and pics, temporarily but the memory lapse would happen again and I need to do the reboot again. I’ve done this several times already for about a week now and I’m getting tired of it.
Do you have any advice? I’m a big fan of you and all your reviews. I even got all my ROMS and tutorials from you so you’re like the MAN in my book when it comes to EVO4G. Sorry I’m an OLD FAN but a NOOB but I do need some help. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I rooted my brother’s EVO just fine, he had 2.16.00. But when I tried doing mine, I find that I have 2.18 and it is supported with what I was using and couldn’t do it. Is there an update that handles the newer EVO version?
Meant to say not supported.
I have updated my EVO 4g to gingerbread 2.3.5 with unlocked bootloader. Is there any way to root this version of Gingerbread?
Question: there’s a new system update out. can i install the update without unrooting my phone? HTC EVO 4G.
