For those of you who want a faster Evo 4G LTE over stock with better battery life, you might want to give the freshEVO ROM a try. Although almost one month since last version update, in my opinion this is one of the fastest ROMs for your HTC Evo 4G LTE (with Sense still in-tact). I really like how everything runs much faster than any other ROM I’ve tried so far. Best of all, battery life is pretty good too.

Sometimes, having less updates might mean a good thing, the developer has stopped fixing bugs most likely.

If you haven’t tried this freshEVO ROM yet, get a test drive real quick, I have a feeling you will like it very much.

Could you tell us how to install the new freshEvo rom on our phones after we have downloaded the zip file (per your instructions listed above)? This is an awesome web site and I am loving the education that I get from reading your daily updates on how to make the EVO 4g a better device. I have installed super user and wifi tethering and love it.
    Thanks!

  3. Bobbie says:

Hey, do you know if anyone has had problems with voice after making changes to the HTC EVO 4G LTE? After calling sprint the and checking for local issues and there were none, the problem still exists! :/ ??? Any help would be great. I am thinking about unroot and flashing back to stock?

  4. Dante says:

    Greetings,
I am currently running Charmeleon Rom. Im a huge fan of your site so I tried the Fresh Rom yesterday…only it wasn’t all that Fresh!! ..lol. Yeah, I used it for a few hours and although its a really fast and clean Rom I felt that it really wasn’t too much different than stock. I missed my PKMN Quick Settings…and I cannot live without those neat PKMN Tweaks!! So I flashed back to PKMN Charmeleon last night..All is well now. Thanks for your advice and tips but Fresh just wast for me. I look forward to trying out all your future Rom postings…Thanks so much.. you guys ROCK!!

I just flashes this rom and it works great. I still can’t get Google Wallet to work. when I tried it told me my version was out of date and made me update to the newest version of wallet. and still says that my device and mobile network are not supported yet.
Is there a fix for this with the newest version of wallet? I can’t find even the original fix for google wallet on xda developers since there are so many threads about wallet issues.
    please help

There’s a hack somewhere. Sorry, let me see if I can post it soon!

      • David says:

I tried doing the htc_jewel edit to the build.prop file but it is no longer working with the new wallet update.

    • Juan Leal says:

same thing happened to me!! didnt know if i messed something up or not, they say you should reset and clear the settings out of GW before reseting/flashing. but since i never used GW and i heard somewhere that it wasnt needed then i should be okay but still getting the same above error and then GW closes automatically (see my website for photo)

  7. Frank says:

Tried downloading this rom from the link you listed but the md5 doesn’t match up. Checked it several times several downloads.

  8. Dwight says:

I am trying to install the unlock boot loader to go with the basic root on my new EVO LTE but I can’t get my windows computer to recognize the cd command it keeps telling the path is not right any suggestions . High On Android.

How’s the battery life on this ROM compared to MeanRom?

  10. Brian says:

How’s the battery life on this ROM compared to MeanRom?

  11. Emanuel says:

Is the battery life on this one any better than the Mean or even the Viper Roms???

  12. Jake says:

Well I honestly find my phone to be extremely fast with stock, and now especially with the mean ROM. Any faster seems to be pointless since it doesn’t really lag all that much if ever, but I am keen on battery life so which between the Mean and Fresh ROMS have better battery life?

  13. David says:

I haven’t tried mean rom yet. I have noticed that my phone is faster and I like some of the tweeks to quick settings. However I have noticed that my batter life is a little less than it was with the stock rom. It may be that I am using my phone more, now that it is faster and more fun to play with.

  14. John says:

Love the Rom but am having a hard time getting 4 G to light up on my phone. Could it be that this Rom has an adverse effect on the 4g reception or is it just that I am in an area that has poor 4G reception in Kansas City? Any body else having problems with 4 g reception on this rom? Just curious. Love the Rom, all that you said it was and more! 3G reception is OK! Thanks and keep up the good work! Love your site.

    • David says:

I’m in the Dallas area and I am getting 4G just as good with this rom as I was when I was stock. Now the 4G coverage is still not the best, but I’m getting it everywhere I did before.

    • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

Not sure unless you have another 4G LTE Sprint phone to test with, I don’t even get 4G LTE here in SF Bay Area.

  15. russ-t says:

i rooted my phone as per your instructions….. the phone went through motions and reboots but didnt install super user… what did i do wrong

    • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

Try the unlock/root method instead. The One-Click may not work on newer software versions as HTC blocked it.

  16. John says:

Have you seen the new update to fresh evo rom 5.2.1? Talks about updating Radios and such. Is it worth the update? I am in a market that claims 4G coverage but my phone has only shown 4g coverage one time. Not sure if the update corrects or improves anything like ability to get 4G coverage? It may be minor fixes that are not worth the update. Really value your opinion and advice! Thanks!

    • David says:

I wouldn’t update for better 4g coverage. I live in an area with 4g and it comes and goes as they are updating the towers and installing new ones.

    • rb says:

piggybacking off ^this, i’m htc dev unlocked, twrp, s-ON. can i flash this ROM sucessfully? will i have to update radios and can that be done s-ON? if so, where do i get them and HOW do i do it…?

sorry for the plethora of noobness. :/

      thank you.

      • John says:

Looking at the HTC home page for HTC EVO 4G LTE software update dated July 13, 2012. The updated software for stock claims to strengthen and stabilize the Wifi signal. Did we get the improved wifi connection and stability with the Fresh Evo 5.1?

        Thanks

  17. John says:

Can you guys do a video showing us how to flash the new Fresh Evo 5.2.1? The new software is supposed to improve the radios and thus the signal strength on both the phone and data per the fresh evo web site? Would be really helpful!

    Thanks so much!

  18. Robert says:

    hello
I made a mistake and I wiped all the system in my evo 4g lte but I have the twrp backup file in me sd card but I dont know how restore becouse I cant transfer the back up folder to the internal memory, in twrp file manager I can see the back up folder but I cant move all the folder just files

    • HTC Evo 4G Hacks says:

twrp has an option to select external also, look carefully for the radio buttons at top.

      • Robert says:

thank you for the answer, how you know It is TWRP v2.1.8,, if you meant in MOUNT(section) I marked the radio (using external SDCard) and I cant see the backups in RESTORE SECTION, if not there can you explain where is the radio buttons at top, there is eight section (install, wipe, backup, restore, mount, settings, advanced, reboot), I formated the sdcard in windows 7, then I put back the folder(backup)

  19. Chad says:

  21. Chris Cruz says:

  22. Chris Cruz says:
