I just installed this rom on my wifes Evo 4G, and she loves it. It seems to work pretty well and she says it’s like having a new phone.

I was sooooooo excited about this update… until I got into my car tonight. I discovered that something in this update doesn’t let the EVO 4G play nicely with Honda/Acura Handsfreelink. In fact, I had to pull over to the side of the road and turn my cell phone off because the car system kept repeating, “The system does not allow the phone to initiate Bluetooth pairing,” over, and over, and over, and over again. Went to my backup Sprint Lovers ROM and everything is fine again.

  3. Danny says:

Does my evo need to be rooted before I install this rom?

    • noah says:

      yes
u can get to recovery if the phone is not rooted
but u can go from the phone settings and then system update and then htc software update

  4. Nate says:

Why would you do a recovery instead of flashing the ROM?

  5. Diego says:

Just what I was looking for. You’re awesome I love this phone!!!!

I attempted to install 4.53.651.1 on my rooted phone and during the process it rebooted, a triangle with an exclamation mark in it and an android to the side was on the screen. I had to remove the battery to restart my phone. what does this mean ? I discarded the install for now. again a reply is appreciated….

same thing happened to me so I removed battery and when it started up said system update is available to install but I am holding off to find out if I should install or not. Any answers from anyone that has installed or attempted to install the update.

      • Orlando says:

  10. VinceHollywood says:

So when I install this ROM I should have free hotspot??

    • Broxton says:

If your phone is rooted, just go to the market and install “wireless tether for root users”.
open the app and accept when asked in superuser. works great!

  11. Dmonklan says:

So I had my phone rooted and accidently updated the phone to this new ROM. Now I lost my root and I can’t seem to get recovery to work. suggestions? I’ve tried unrooting method but it stays S-on and it doesn’t recognize my phone when its connected.. help 😀

  14. Isaac says:

Hi, I’m a NOOB at this, but i tried following the directions on your video here and run into a few problems.

    1. I’m not sure where exactly to put this file “4.53.651.1_Rooted_Deodexed_Signed” I just dropped it onto my sdcard but the phone wouldn’t read it from recovery, I even tried zipping it into a zip folder and renamed the folder to “ClockworkMod Recovery” and still nothing.

    2. I did everything as shows in the video up until (1:44) and then my phone shows me on black screen two green circular arrows and one arrow in the middle pointing down on a phone, and right after it shows a phone with a red triangle with exclamation sign. and it freezes at this point.

PLEASE HELP ME. here is some info about my HTC EVO 4G phone:
    Android version: 2.3.3
    Build & Software number: 4.24.651.1
PLEASE ANY FEED BACK OR EVEN STEP BY STEP DIRECTIONS WILL BE APPRECIATED.
    THANK YOU.
