Viper ROM for HTC Evo 3D!

One thing about the HTC Evo 3D is that there’s already a huge development community behind it, thanks for the HTC Evo 4G. Anyways, here’s another ROM review, Viper ROM for HTC Evo 3D.

Some of the highlights of the Viper ROM include a panoramic camera, GPU acceleration, wifi tether app, titanium backup, terminal emulator, OC daemon (will have more on this, this can save you a TON of battery life), and more.

The major feature of the Viper ROM is probably the OC daemon (which I forgot to cover in the video), it lets you adjust the minimum/maximum CPU

RCMix Kernel for HTC Evo 3D – Stable 1.728Ghz Overclock!

So, this is an update for the RCMix Kernel, which was not allowing my Evo 3D to be overclocked beyond 1.5Ghz couple days back. But with its latest version 2.2.3, you can in fact overclock it to a whopping 2Ghz.

For my Evo 3D (the maximum CPU will depend on your phone), I was able to achieve stable 1.728Ghz and got near 100MFLOPS on Linpack.

Supra ROM for HTC Evo 3D!

Supra ROM is an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based ROM with a bit of Sense UI.  I’ve been using this ROM for couple days now and it’s pretty nice.

Some of the goodies include AOSP status bar, icons, new Market/GMail, bloatware removal, text message up to 5MB, adjust PRL using ##75# dialer, and Century Gothic font.

Silverneedle Kernel for HTC Evo 3D! [1.7Ghz Overclock]

Here’s another good overclocked kernel for those of you interested in bringing your Evo 3D up to speed near 1.7Ghz dual-core, Silverneedle kernel.

This one does get you to stable 1.7Ghz dual-core but for some reason Linpack and Quadrant tests don’t show much improvement (on MikG 3D ROM). I will try it again with another ROM but in the meanwhile, perhaps you can flash this kernel and let me know what kind of speeds you get and don’t forget to leave the ROM you are using also.

MikG 3D ROM for HTC Evo 3D!

Well, it’s surprising as soon as permanent root was available for the Evo 3D, a slew of ROMs just decided to pop up including MikG 3D ROM.

This MikG 3D ROM features a bit of goodies plus the ability to USB tether and hacked Sprint hotspot.  The Sprint hotspot doesn’t support 4G at this point but you can always install the free Android Wifi Tether app to get 4G tethering (I’ve confirmed this works and will have a video on it too.).

How to Backup/Restore ROMs on HTC Evo 3D!

For those of you new to the HTC Evo 3D, once you’ve rooted your Evo 3D, you will want to backup your newly rooted ROM if you are thinking about doing things like adding a new overclocked kernel or install new ROMs.

You want to create a restore point, sorta like Windows 7 system restoration feature, so you always can go back to a ROM that’s working stable.  Also, this is a great way to have 4 or 5 ROMs on your phone and switch ROMs on the go.

It’s pretty is to do, just go into ClockworkMod Recovery by taking your battery out then h
