CyanogenMod 7.1 ROM + Tiamat Kernel for HTC Evo 4G [1.19Ghz OC]

Probably the most fastest/stable setup for the HTC Evo 4G is the CyanogenMod 7.1 ROM plus Tiamat kernel. I did have CM7 and SnapTurbo running couple months back running really fast but 4G is broken on that setup.

Anyways, I’ve reverted back to the latest CyanogenMod 7.1 ROM, which runs quite fast coupled with Tiamat Kernel. It’s not going to put be as fast as some of the better Android phones out nowadays but still, it’s going to give you a bit of an edge over stock.

App of the Week – SPB Shell 3D Launcher!

For this week, I’ve got the review of the SPB Shell 3D launcher, which replaces your HTC launcher with full 3D effect. I know Sense 3.0 and 3.5 already has a 3D-like launcher but the SPB Shell 3D launcher improves on the 3D effects.

This isn’t a free application and in fact costs $14.95 on the Market. It’s sorta expensive but if you are looking for the best 3D launcher out there to impress your friends, this is the best as it’s going to get.

MIUI ROM for Rooted HTC Evo 3D!

MIUI is a great ROM with lots of customizable options such as hundreds of free themes, completely different UI from Android, and lots of cool stuff like DND app that can block your ex-girlfriend’s numbers.

I’ve tried MIUI ROM for other Android smartphones and I would have to say it’s great but perhaps not that polished for the Evo 3D (yet) as you lose 4G.

But for those of you who don’t mind losing 4G (perhaps you live in non-4G area) or you just want to give it a go, MIUI ROM has lots of neat features you might enjoy such as two-handed action t

App of the Week – Customize Your Evo Lockscreen with WidgetLocker Lockscreen App!

Still using a lockscreen that doesn’t let you quickly get into apps with one swipe? Well, I know most Sense 3.0+ ROMs can do some of it but I find with the WidgetLocker Lockscreen app, you can make your Evo much more efficient (and your life too).

Perhaps you are using this app already (if so, great) but if you are not, you are missing out on additional 3 seconds you can save everytime you use your phone.

Runnymede ROM for HTC Evo 4G! [Sense 3.5][Android 2.3.5]

I was going to hold out trying out new Evo 4G ROMs without 4G but since some of you may live in non-4G areas, here’s a quick overview of the Runnymede ROM running on my Evo 4G. The ROM gives you a full Sense 3.5 experience on Android 2.3.5 while you do lose 4G and visual voicemail capability.

If that doesn’t bother you, this could a good ROM for you to experiment, let me know what you think.

WTSB Sense ROM for HTC Evo 3D!

After trying out a ton of ROMs this week (that is why I haven’t posted often), I found a really great Sense ROM for the HTC Evo 3D with everything working. I really like TweakedSynergy ROM but camera/camcorder was a bit buggy and wanted to really move back to a stock-like ROM.

The WTSB Sense ROM is one of the best stock-like Sense ROMs yet it’s been optimized fully, so you get a much faster speeds over stock without overclocking.

MikG ROM v.2.55 + HDMI Mirroring for HTC Evo 4G!

A lot of people have been asking me that they like MikG ROM the best on their HTC Evo 4G and would like to see HDMI mirroring working, their only complaint.

Well, I just tested MikG ROM v.2.55 with HDMI mirroring kernel from HDMwIn kernel, they work flawlessly together to bring you the best of MikG plus HDMI mirroring.

How to install this?

Same as any other ROM, flash MikG ROM first then the HDMI mirroring kernel (like flashing the ROM).

The HDMI mirroring kernel should work on any version of MikG ROM so you can just flash the kernel also.
