  1. Johnny says:

i dont know wat i did wrong i cleared cache and davik cache also old rom … i got the cyanogen mod bootscreen only

    • Carlton Hobbs says:

      Exact same problem for me.

      • Occulus says:

If you are using firmware later than 1.57 you are restricted to using ICS Sense based ROMs. If you would like to use any of the working JB ROMs (such as Cyanogenmod) you must downgrade your firmware. I flashed everything on a rooted device with S-OFF via the jbear wire trick, and downgraded my firmware and installed CM 10.1 with Ext4 Recovery.

Visit this link (I **STRONGLY** recommend creating an account there as well, you’ll definitely want one; this is as close to official support as you will ever come), and open a new tab for every link you can follow in the posts linked there, following them as appropriate. It’s 6 or 7 total relevant posts, I think, all linked from here:

I used the 1.50.5050 firmware, just follow the instructions carefully and you’ll be fine. Once you’re on the correct firmware and wipe cache+dalvik (removing the firmware zip as noted at the instructions above) you should be able to install CM 10.1 and boot into it easily.

Please note you’ll need to install GAPPS immediately after you know you can boot, and Google Now does not appear to function properly (although voice search does work, by long-pressing the search button). I followed the above process and my only serious issue now is a battery reporting flaw others are also reporting.

        Good luck!

      • joe alva says:

mine does the same thing.. it comes to the cyanogen mod screen with the circle and the reboots.

    • Sean says:

For anyone reading this in the future, if you have a stock rom on the phone, or anything less than cm10, you must wipe everything….data, system, cache, dalvik, boot…before flashing the rom or you will get a bootloop every time. See the xda link for the rom

  2. Dave says:

I am new to rooting and this will be my first time. is there any specific root method or version i need to use this? or will any rooted sprint evo 3d work? sorry im such a noob lol. ive been reading alot about this the last few days and i see so many different versions of hboot, and differnet methods and how to get s-off and im just getting more confused about which to do lol.

    • Occulus says:

CM 10.1 should at least install and boot properly given you are on the proper firmware. I used the process described here. Read before doing, please; this DOES work. The wire trick took me a very many tries, but it was bad timing with the wire on my part and not not not the process. The following process DOES work, and better yet, it’s also apparently reversible from rooted and S-OFF to fully stock again, without noting “RELOCKED” in the bootloader, which is a Very Good Thing if true.

To install CM 10.1 (Wild for the Night build), I first installed SuperSU, busybox, and Ext4 Recovery from within the stock ICS ROM, in the process accidentally and wrongly flashing my bootloader to 1.58.5858. Here’s a link to the RIGHT bootloaders to use (depending on your method of rooting; I used the jbear one):

  3. Rob says:

nice rom but it lacks customization :((

  4. David King says:

Does this work with hboot 1.58 on sprint evo 3d?

    • Rob says:

I have HBoot 1.58, S-Off, Unlocked and I’m getting bootloop

      • Occulus says:

        You need earlier than 1.57.

I’m on 1.50 and CM 10.1 does boot.

Your situation happened to me until I downgraded my firmware. IDK why so many people providing instructions for this leave that little detail out.

  5. scott says:

is it better then cm 10.1 wild for the night?

  6. Ivan says:

I also get CyanogenMod boot screen only and it never boots 🙁

  7. evodude777 says:

a little buggy, but good. you have to be on hboot 1.5 and s-off for this to boot up and work.

  8. David King says:

I know this may be a dumb question, but could anyone point me in the right direction of “learning how to downgrade from 1.58 to 1.50” ? Everything I search for just says basicly it can be done but is very hard?

    • evodude777 says:

Hey David, you should check out “Evo 3D Faq” on thi site in order to root your phone, gain s-off and then downgrade your hboot. You must follow the directions to a T!!!

      • David King says:

I’m Rooted, Unlocked, and S-Off, with Cool ICS rom…

        • evodude777 says:

Here’s the link:, scroll down to the list of hboots to download, download the 1.5 hboot, place on the root of your sdcard and rename it, shut off your phone, pull the battery out, install the battery, volume down plus power to get into bootloader, it will ask you to update, vol up for yes. After it finishes updating, you must pull the battery out again and remove the sdcard so you can remove the file out of the sdcard using another source (laptop). reinstall the sdcard, battery, get into bootloader, then recovery, do a full wipe and install rom and gapps, reboot, done.

        • Kaarel Kelk says:

          Then run stock RUU

  9. San says:

My gps doesn’t seem to be working I keep getting a searching for signal message. Gps never locks on.

  14. guayacan074 says:

I need help downgrading from hboot 1.58 to 1.50,could anyone point me in the right direction .

  15. daku says:

this custom rom : 5 or 10 min to restart

  16. Beatalizm says:

Is this working with hboot 1.53 or should i downgrade to 1.50?

    • ajaxaias says:

copy the older hboot.img into a zip file and call the zip file PG86IMG, then put it on the root of the sdcard and boot to bootloader. It will prompt to flash it there.

Being S-OFF gives the ability to flash anything in a PG86IMG in bootloader screen.

  19. gary says:

I uninstalled it as Grooveip would not log into my account.
Also decided I want the 3d camera functionality.

  20. Adarius says:

Keyboard(AOSP) keeps crashing. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    • kobraone says:

try installing go keyboard from google play

      • Adarius says:

Can’t. I have to type in my email address to get into Google Play. 🙁 and when I say it crashes it crashes immediately after I cut on the phone. I don’t even see it pop up.

      • kenz says:

Do not use any other keyboard….

        • machv5 says:

wtf “don’t use any other keyboard” that was helpful (kenz your suggestion is just plain craziness and you are obviously just being a dick. I wish there was a send a slap function via the web you’d barely be conscious most of the time you were online).

So what I’m hearing is that if you want to run this ROM you either get used to not having a keyboard or copy and paste from what you can’t even go to a site to find those words to copy and paste in the first place. And the voice typing button is on the KEYBOARD. AAAAARRRRGGGHHHHHHH…….

I’m going to try fixing permissions via recovery (ext4 in my case) then if that doesn’t work I’m going to install another keyboard by pushing it via ADB. That will work or there is something wrong with our downloads and we need to check the MD5s. If they check out (and you did update your radio to the correct version for this ROM, I did, then it’s switch to another ROM time.

If I get it to work I’ll post back and if anyine can get physical access to kenz slap him for me. Thanks

          • machv5 says:

Well I got the keyboard issue sorted, I was also having a problem with the back button not functioning either but this fixed once I got a keyboard working.

            1. disable the built in keyboard to stop those pesky toasts from driving you mad.
            2. Download a third party keyboard on your computer then transfer to your SD card. Enable third party installs. Any keyboard will do just don’t get one like swiftkey which won’t work till it has downloaded it’s dictionary because unless you only have wifi internet you can’t connect to a password locked wifi for the obvious reason.
            3. I used hackers keyboard just set it up and don’t forget to enable at least one input method type like I did which almost had me installing a different ROM

            Hope this helps

Thanks to the developers of this ROM

  28. Bob Caruso says:

I can’t get WiFi tether working now. I put routing fix on but what profile do you use? I tried generic and generic ICS. I can’t see the the hotspot on the network. I tried looking at the log but it says it doesn’t exist. I just download the newest version of WiFi tether this morning too. Help would be greatly appreciated.

  29. Wkruse says:

Ok so I am on HBOOT 1.50 and I am S-OFF. After downgrading my HBOOT I went in to 4ext recovery and formatted and wiped everything and rebooted into recovery. I then flashed the rom and the gapps and rebooted the phone. The CM10.1 loading screen starts and moves for 4 seconds and then the phone reboots. I have tried every HBOOT version on the list and none of them work. So what can I do in order to flash this rom???? PLEASE REPLY!

    • scavenger55 says:

You need to flash ROM first, reboot phone, play with it for awhile and then reboot into recovery and flash gapps. Worked for me. First make sure you start fresh and delete the data and do factory reset and whatnot.

  30. Sepehr says:

  32. Nox22 says:

I am S-On, and I was successful with flashing CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 ROM for Sprint Evo 3D. My issue is that the Google Voice Search, or speak to text is not working, it FC everytime. I searched and found some sites that suggest to update the Google Voice Search, but still not working. Could it be the issue of the S-ON?
Any suggestion would be very appreciated!! I like the rom, but I’d if I can’t talk to my phone, Rom is useless… Help Please!!

    • scavenger55 says:

You need to s-off! That is pretty important with the install. You will need to reflash. But first, s-off.
