Viper ROM for HTC Evo 3D!

One thing about the HTC Evo 3D is that there’s already a huge development community behind it, thanks for the HTC Evo 4G. Anyways, here’s another ROM review, Viper ROM for HTC Evo 3D.

Some of the highlights of the Viper ROM include a panoramic camera, GPU acceleration, wifi tether app, titanium backup, terminal emulator, OC daemon (will have more on this, this can save you a TON of battery life), and more.

The major feature of the Viper ROM is probably the OC daemon (which I forgot to cover in the video), it lets you adjust the minimum/maximum CPU frequency, allowing you to get much longer battery life. I will have an update on this soon with a video so check back for that.

Hi Max 1st just wanted to say thanks for all the videos they’ve been very helpful to me as far as the 4g and 3d evo goes. Just wanted to let u know that I flashed this rom last night with the RC mix kernel and over clocked it to 1728 on demand and I have been getting consistent 2430’s and up on quadrant but only got 86.3 on linpack.

Aloha. Your website and videos are GREAT!!! I installed the Viper rom and found that when I went to set my max awake frequency, I didn’t have nearly as many options as you. My max available frequency is 1188000, ie stock. Is there a preface that needs to take place before having higher available frequencies? I was under the assumption that Viper would eliminate the need for any other OC app?

  4. MrHawaii says:

As many, I believe I spoke too soon. I realize that I will need to install a non stock kernel to unlock OC-ability 🙂

Thanks for all the great videos. Never owned an Android phone b4 the 3D and was a little nervous about rooting. Now running Viper 1.3 with Silverneedle. Please do a video on Clockworkmod recovery advanced restore. I took ur advice and backed everything up with Titanium but never needed it. I did an Advanced restore -> data from my stock ROM (b4 Viper) with Clockworkmod after installing Viper ROM and and it restored all of my apps, contacts sms and mms, calender, page layouts…. Everything. My phone appeared as if it still had stock ROM less the changes Viper ROM added. Thanks again for all the great videos.
