So, you want to install a new custom ROM on your newly rooted HTC Evo 4G LTE?
Well, before you do anything else, we HIGHLY RECOMMEND you to make a backup of your ROM. Backing up ROM will backup your whole ROM, kernel, personal settings, and even apps. It backs up everything except for contents of your internal storage and microSD card such as personal photos and videos.
It only takes 10 minutes so once you unlock your bootloader and install TWRP recovery, make a backup right away. That way, you can always restore your ROM when you need to easily.
Step 1. Reboot into bootloader by holding down Volume Down and Power buttons together for 10 seconds.
Step 2. When your phone reboots, let go of the Power button for a second then hold it down again.
Step 3. Choose “RECOVERY” and hit the Power button.
Step 4. Once in TWRP recovery, choose “Backup”.
Step 5. Swipe to start backing up, that’s it!
Step 6. When your backup is done, make sure there’s no errors like below.
Step 7. To restore your ROM, simply choose “Restore” from main menu in TWRP recovery.
Step 8. You will have the option to choose a backup folder. All backups are stored in a folder under TWRP in your internal storage with date and time. You can always change the name of these folder to something more memorable.
By using backup and restore feature on the TWRP recovery, you can have multiple backups of various different custom ROMs you try. This way, you can run multiple ROMs on the go and also a great way to restore your phone when something goes wrong.

hello all,
is there a evo 4g lte hack that enables the system wifi hotspot ?
thanks in advance.
Evo 4g lte (rooted) unlock bootlader.
I am running mean on the EVO LTE and it has stopped sync with my hotmail accounts. it is fine with Gmail, but i have wiped, swiped, re-booted, and re-rooted and it doesn’t want to work. I went in to individual settings and made sure everything was good. Any ideas? Also, I thought I saw a video on how to remove a custom rom but I dont quite know how to do it. Just Factory Reset?
Hey Max and all. I have rooted my Sprint HTC EVO LTE on the older version and had wifi tether working just fine. I stupidly upgraded OTA to the 1.22 version and now tether will no longer work. I have tried several times to follow your backup instructions to prepare to upload a new rom but after I hit recovery I get an icon error showing a pic of the phone with a circle and a line through it, preventing me from going further. What do I need to do at this point?
Mark
You can reflash recovery just like you did when rooting and enter recovery right away as newer software updates might overwrite custom recovery on reboot.
so ive made several backups with stock and custom roms, only problem is when i do a restore, it finishes in 1 second, which cant be right, and when i reboot, its not the backup that loads, but the same rom i had before the restore attempt. can you help me figure this out max? any help at all is much appreciated. if anyone else had this issue and figured it out please comment back. thanks
If could be a bad backup u can try opening the TWRP directory and see if there’s actually files in the backup folder.
should i be backing up into my internal, external or does it not matter?
ur choice!
and yes i looked inside the directory and all files that i backed up are there, six to be exact, boot, data, system, then the 3 again with a .md5 extention at the end
im running cm10 on my evo 4g lte and had to use flash image gui because i was s-on, can i just hit restore or do i have to do something else
You don’t have to use flash image gui on 4G LTE.
To flash the new viper Rom it says u must have s-off, right on the install screen.. how do we get s-off??
Any help getting s-off would be nice… And I flashed the viper lite Rom and could not get WiFi to work, what’s up with that??
Whenever i try an restore my stock rom it takes forever to restore the boot. when it finally does it says its successful but it always gets stuck in a boot loop…how can i return to stock again if my backup is corrupt? I dont wanna unroot. i just want my stock sense camera back lol
Oh and i have another question…. will updating TWRP wipe out all my previous backups? And how do i go about doing that? Just flash newest version like how i did it before?
Yesterday I rooted my htc evo lte Im completely new to this and everything was seem fine. Then I decided to download CM10.1 Rom but I forgot to back my phone. I also forgot to download the GAPPS for the ROM but continue procceded installing and rebooting the phone but it got stuck in HTC Blank screen. I went back to recovery and ended up wiping the whole system (thinking it was the solution)now Im stuck and I cant get it to start everytime I reboot the phone. I tried taking the sd card out the phone and download again the CM10.1 rom and gapps and install it on recovery but I still get stuck in the htc black screen. Is it because I didnt back it up? Please Help Me!?
