If you want stability of CM10.1 but have the ability to switch to many different themes (over 50+) on the go (for free), check out the latest Avatar ROM for your HTC Evo 4G LTE.

Based on the latest CM10.1 Android 4.2.2 sources, the Avatar ROM brings you CM10.1 coupled with MIUI themes ported to Evo 4G LTE.

What can you do?

Well, MIUI themes bring a ton of customization to your phone without you actually doing anything. Along with themes also come custom lockscreens, which is a bonus for those of you looking to swap out theme on your phone without a lot of work.

Avatar ROM is also available for many other Android devices and looking like another great hybrid ROM out there you should definitely try once if you like custom themes.

Try it out for this week and do let me know what you think!

If you brick your phone WHILE ROOTING there is a way to recover from it. Google: ” Panda Finder”

You will also need to to download a Linux Distribution, preferably Ubuntu. Run it on live CD so that you won’t have to create a Dual-Boot OS (Option of Windows or Linux, Mac or Linux, etc.)

If you’re having trouble navigating Linux command lines, seek help here: ” http://linuxcommand.org

There is a great tutorial from Max here as well:

NOTE: This is ONLY for Hardware Brick upon an attempted root, and may not work with any other method that caused your Evo LTE device to brick.

    • Savio Dantes says:

Is your device S- ON or S-OFF?

      What hBoot are you on?

Have you tried flashing the Kernel?

Answer these first, then Imay be able to assist you?

  17. Andy says:

S on, hboot 2.09, flashed kernel using flash gui app and fast boot on pc neither way works

  18. Savio Dantes says:

Here is a more manual method:

Download and install Android SDK (if you haven’t already, if have then just install HTC Sync)
    – Create a folder called “Android” using this file path ” C:\Android”
    – Download and install HTC Sync

    – Once you’ve done this connect your phone to your PC via USB and go into Bootloader>Fastboot (restart your device and hold the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons )
    – When connected fastboot should say “FASTBOOTUSB”
    – From here the drivers should install themselves to windows, after which you need to find the “platform-tools” folder in this path “C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64\sdk”
    – Find the folder labeled ” platform-tools” , then while holding the “Shift Key”, right-click on this folder and select “Open command window here”, a command prompt (CMD) window should appear.
    – Take the “boot.img” file from the ROM you want to install and copy it into “C:\Android\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64\sdk\platform-tools”
    – In the Command Prompt Window type: fastboot flash boot boot.img

    – After that reboot your device and go into into TWRP.
    – Wipe and reinstall ROM, clear caches (both Cache and Dalvik Cache) .
    – Reboot Phone and enjoy your new ROM.

  19. Jimmy Saint says:

I used the Flash Image Gui and flashed in recovery still doesn’t work. Is there a video link you could send or a step by step routine on how to put this rom please? I’ve even tried to use Rom manager and that doesn’t even work

    • Savio Dantes says:

      Jimmy, 3 things:
      – Have you obtained Root access? (I have to ask and refuse to assume)
      – Also are you ” S-Off ” or ” S-On”
      – Which HBoot are on ? ( i.e. 1.12, 1.15, 2.09, etc.)

All of these items can be found on your bootloader menu
( restart phone while holding “volume down” button)

  20. Joe says:

How can I use wifitether with this ROM? I install the app and run it. I have no menu/settings soft key anywhere?? Also I can not seem to delete contacts. Again no menu soft key under contacts? Any help is appreciated.

    • Savio Dantes says:

Settings > System> Hardware Keys, then check off ” Show Action Overflow” under Additional Options.

If want more a “legacy android” feel to the button setup, check off “Enable Custom Actions”, then choose the following for your button actions:
      – Home Key (Long Press) = Voice Search
      – App Switch Key = Open/Close Menu
      – App Switch Key (Long Press) = Recent apps switcher

      Relax and Enjoy !
