How to Install Kings Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM on HTC Evo 4G!

For those of you who want to try out beta version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for HTC Evo 4G, you might want to try the Kings ROM.  There’s a lot of things that don’t work right now including 4G, which kinda sucks but for early birds, you can give it a go.

I don’t actually recommend this ROM (yet) but did record while I was installing it so, hopefully you can try it out too.   Make sure you backup your current ROM using Nandroid backup as shown in the video if you want to save “everything” that you currently have.

As for speed on this Kings Gingerbread ROM, I got about 22 MFLOPs using Linpack.

I installed the KingsROM (Gingerbread) last night. So far I love it. The transitions are great, it is fast and just overall looks good. So far I have noticed a few issues:
    1) Contacts doesn’t give you the option to link duplicate entries
    2) No 4G
    3) Wireless signal doesn’t seem to be picked up as strong.
    4) No options in the notification drop down bar. (WiFi, Bluetooth, etc)
    5) When adjusting the volume it doesn’t let you go from low to vibrate to silent….there is no silent only or vibrate only.
    6) It doesn’t register that I have signal when using my Sprint Airave at home.

I will continue to mess with it and see what else I find. It is a great looking and super fast ROM.

Yeah, i did. And I actually just used rom manager and im now using cyanogen. pretty cool, very fast. Thanks. What rom are you going to review next?

  3. Orlando says:

Is this the best ROM other than the Cyanogen ROM. I will be flashing them this weekend and will be looking for those things that do not work. Please keep me informed

It’s a very beautiful, elegant, and fast ROM. You can definitely tell that it’s still in beta form, because I would go from 3G to 1x at times, but I’m waiting for this to come out of beta form, that’s how pleased I am with the progression thus far!

I installed gingerbread and on the load up it shows the supersonic roms screen, then the evo kings screen, then goes back to the supersonic roms screen, and keeps showing that screen for the past half hour. what did i do wrong?

Tried this and a couple other gingerbread roms tonight, and the main/only problem I have, is that the Android Market is simply GONE!! I’ve tried d/l it through Applanet, as well as install from SD card. It will install, but just flashes a white screen then back to wherever it was before launching. WTF?!?!?!?!

    Any ideas? HTC EVO 4G
