UPDATE: There’s now Perma-temp root, please read this post instead!
For those of you wondering where’s root for the Evo 3D? It’s almost here.
Permanent root should be coming shortly but for now, we have temp root for the HTC Evo 3D.
What this Temp Root Does:
It gives your 1-time SuperUser access to any rooted app.
You will need to reboot your Evo 3D to get temp root again.
In other words, this temp root method isn’t usable as it’s only 1-time use only but this is good news for Evo 3D owners as it only means permanent root is coming in the next couple days.
Here’s how to (temp) root your HTC Evo 3D:
First, download the evo3dtemproot.zip file and unzip using favorite unzipper.

Second, make sure you have HTC Evo 3D drivers installed for Windows systems:
Third, move the evo3dtemproot folder into the root directory of your computer such as c:\evo3dtemproot for Windows.
Fourth, open up a command prompt (shell). In Windows, type “cmd” under Start->Search.
Fifth, enter the following commands to install temp root:
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb push fixsu.sh /data/local/tmp
adb push su /data/local/tmp
adb push busybox /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fixsu.sh
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/su
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/busybox
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
