How to Root HTC Evo 4G Gingerbread 2.3!

UPDATE: Gingerbread root is HERE! So, you’ve unrooted your Evo 4G yesterday and installed the new official OTA Gingerbread? Well, I did and seems like the rooting method for Android 2.2 isn’t working on the Gingerbread.

But no worries, you can easily root your Evo 4G on Gingerbread by unrooting your Evo 4G (this will get you back to Android Froyo 2.2) then use the

HTC Evo 4G Official Gingerbread Review!

So I unrooted my Evo 4G and installed the new Gingerbread update. The official Gingerbread does come with goodies like LCD brightness control “finally” working and camcorder working flawlessly.

Of course, the speed of the new Gingerbread is rather slow, I am getting about 12-13 on Linpack, whereas I was getting near 45-60 on custom ROMs.

Best route for anyone on custom ROMs?

You don’t have to unroot and install the new Gingerbread. Instead, just flash the kernel and radio (from the official Gingerbread) to your custom Evo ROM. Make sure to

HTC Evo 4G Gingerbread OTA Update!

For those of you with stock HTC Evo 4G, you should be getting a Gingerbread OTA Update like as we speak. For those of you on custom ROMs, you can unroot your Evo 4G (takes 5 minutes), then do a software update. Of course, there should be a bunch of ROMs updated with the Gingerbread OTA update in the next couple days so you can wait to get those updates.

I am in the process of unrooting my phone as we speak and installing the new update so will have a video review of the new stock Gingerbread Evo ROM

Missed Me 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for HTC Evo 4G!

Here’s Missed Me 2.3 Gingerbread ROM for HTC Evo 4G, made by Steven, a 14-year old, who might be the youngest ROM maker ever.  Anyways, this is a pretty good ROM, very similar to Evo Zone and Fresh Evo, based off the leaked 2.3.3.

Leaked Virus ROM with Sense 3.0 UI for HTC Evo 4G!

For those of you who want to take a peak at what’s coming up soon with the HTC Evo 4G, there’s a leaked ROM out there with Sense 3.0 UI, which is dubbed “Virus ROM” (a developer made it flashable). Anyways, I tried this ROM and it’s pretty good, I like the new Sense 3.0, which has a better feel to it.

Everything is working except the camcorder and some of the icon doesn’t show up but other than that, it’s usable and you can give it a try too. UPDATE (6/26/11): Everything is working as of version b.1.3 except HDMI mirroring, t

Fresh Evo ROM Review for HTC Evo 4G!

Fresh Evo ROM is another ROM (sorta like Evo Zone) based off the leaked Gingerbread HTC Evo 4G ROM. It’s really plain stock ROM but unlike Evo Zone, doesn’t come with Sprint apps (bloatware). If you don’t need all the Sprint apps but you like Evo Zone, I would probably get this Fresh Evo ROM.

The Fresh Evo ROM also lets you check for latest ROM updates, which is a small feature but neat for upgrading your ROM on the go later. I might stick with this ROM for a day or two since it comes with everything I need, 4G and camera working, plus no Sprint apps.

MIUI ROM for HTC Evo 4G Review!

MIUI ROM is one of the other big ROMs out there like CyanogenMod 7, they’ve got a whole bunch of ROMs for different Android smartphone including the HTC Evo 4G.

Anyways, one of our readers asked to review it so I did install it today.

First, MIUI ROM doesn’t support 4G (yet) but it does come with latest Android 2.3.4, supports Netflix, and MIUI has a whole lot of themes. If you don’t need 4G or don’t live in a 4G area and you don’t need Sprint apps, MIUI ROM seems like a great ROM to go with.

The MIUI ROM’s menus are compl

How to Install Evo Zone ROM Gingerbread Android 2.3.3 on your HTC Evo 4G!

Recently, someone told me they installed the latest CyanogenMod 7 ROM for Evo 4G and wanted to install Sprint apps (like Sprint TV) back onto their phone.  Well, I tried it this morning and CM7 doesn’t support Sprint apps because Sprint apps use Sense UI and CM7 doesn’t have that.

Anyways, to make the story short, I found another great Gingerbread ROM, the Evo Zone ROM, which comes with Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and Sprint apps loaded.  Now, some of you might not like the Sprint apps so I will have some instructions on how to remove some of the apps you

How to Install Gingerbread Evo Deck ROM! [Android 2.3.4]

UPDATE: See my updated review of the latest Evo Deck ROM! It’s been awhile since I’ve updated my ROM on my HTC Evo 4G, mostly because I let my friend borrow it but I finally got it back plus there are many great Gingerbread ROMs for Evo now.

For one, the CyanogenMod 7 ROM is highly recommended except it doesn’t support 4G.

BUT, there’s a Gingerbread Evo Deck ROM which is based on CyanogenMod 7 with 4G enabled plus HDMI mirroring.

I just inst
